LoVeArTs Project Sunday, Oct 16 7:00p at Christ Church Neighborhood House Theater, Philadelphia, PA Price: $20 Age Suitability: None Specified Tags: There are no tags. LoVeArts will be hosting it's second performance showcase, The LoVeArts Project, on October 16, 2011 at Christ's Church Neighborhood House Theater. The goal of this showcase is to feature young performers, provide exposure for the dance schools/programs/companies/choreographers they represent, and to raise funds that will contribute to children's dance education. LoVeArts, founded in 2006 by Vanetta Wood and Vonetta Boggs, is dedicated to fostering children's interests and education in the arts. Rather than seeking funding through grants and scholarships, we believe it is most fitting for children's education to be supported and directly funded by their community. In an effort to realize this goal we intend to host a series of performance showcases to raise funding for dance school scholarships, visual art classes, music lessons, acting lessons, etc. Performers are asked to participate solely out of their love of children, the arts, and education. All proceeds from the show will be used to form arts education scholarships for children trying to navigate the urban landscape.

We played match maker - and we were careful to take risks. What will happen? We don't exactly know, but Blind Date is here to inspire that conversation, to bring the possibilities between music and dance into focus, to help us understand and challenge the continuum of improvisation and composition in performance, and to anticipate the unknown, and the inherent potential for disaster but also greatness that comes from this edge of inquiry. David Crowder Band Sunday, Oct 30 7:00p at Electric Factory, Philadelphia, PA Price: $25.00 Age Suitability: 21 and up Tags: There are no tags. David Crowder Band Electric Factory Sunday, October 30, 2011 8:00 pm David Crowder*Band, the Dove Award-winning six-piece, crafts compelling, inimitably progressive electronic rock. The band began when David Crowder from Texarkana, Texas, realized that almost half of the students at Baylor University were not attending church, which he found surprising since it is a Christian university. He and Chris Seay started University Baptist Church (Waco, Texas) in 1995 while he was still a student. Crowder led worship there and continued to do so throughout the year. The church congregation grew, as did the band lineup. The one thing non-Christians get perturbed about is that no one is being straightforward with the conversation, Crowder explains. And thats when they feel like theyve been had and go, I fell in love with this band and now I find out theyre just trying to subvert my thinking. This project says what it is. Its Church Music and if youre straightforward with it, theres beauty thats available to people who may not profess the same beliefs. Church MUSIC the David CROWDER*BANDs fifth studio offering since the solidification of their lineup back in 2000will hit stores September 22 through EMIs sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records imprint. The band have easily sold more than one million albums to date including 2007s Remedy, which debuted at #1 on the Christian charts and notched a #22 opening on the Billboard Top 200. This ones a monster, man, Crowder enthuses, and lengthy! The albums packed with 73 continuous minutes of music, inspired by the likes of Portishead and Sigur Rs. Its our stimulus package, the frontman and occasional Theremin player jokes. Were doing our part.
